GleAM Records is proud to announce the release of Identithree, the new album by drummer Nicola Angelucci in trio with Enrico Zanisi (piano), Enzo Pietropaoli (double bass). The album will be available in digital download/streaming from November 6, 2026 distributed by Believe Digital, Naxos Music and Galileo Music.

"Enzo, Enrico and I belong to three different generations, to three different musical identities.

"Identithree" intertwines in a very spontaneous way all this, our personalities and our different backgrounds. Being able to express oneself naturally, without labels or pre-packaged musical concepts is pure joy and the one who benefits from it is Music!" Nicola Angelucci

The project stems from a strong focus on timbral exploration, both within each individual voice and in the collective sound of the trio. At its core is a careful approach to sonic space, mutual listening and interaction: the music always comes first, rather than the individual musicians or their respective instruments, with each voice contributing to a shared musical language.

The compositions often develop from short, distinctive and melodic themes, conceived as starting points from which the musical material can unfold freely yet coherently. The result is music that moves across different languages and influences without being confined to specific stylistic labels or clearly defined historical references. Different approaches coexist throughout the album. Pieces such as “Evidentemente,” which draws inspiration from Thelonious Monk’s “Evidence,” and “Solar,” the celebrated standard associated with Miles Davis, retain a more explicit connection with the jazz tradition, with improvisation unfolding over defined harmonic and rhythmic structures. Elsewhere, on pieces such as “Outro,” “Morning,” “Out of Maze” and “L’angelo mai conosciuto” — dedicated to the memory of someone who passed away far too soon — melody takes on a more central role, opening into sections of freer improvisation. Tradition and exploration thus coexist within a cohesive musical journey, where composition and improvisation, melody and expressive freedom become different facets of the same creative process.
