In 1932, Margaret Walker, acclaimed poet, had the unique opportunity to hear both Langston Hughes and James Weldon Johnson recite their poetry. In this collection, Walker shares with listeners four of the “Seven Negro Sermons in Verse” that she herself heard Johnson read in New Orleans. Walker exceptionally executes the dialect of P.L.
