Blaise Cendrars is a unique character in French literature. He dabbled in many fields, from business to movies to reporting, but decided poetry was his vocation. He persisted in being one of the freest men of his generation, understanding that life is more important than literature. This album provides the only complete recording of the poem available—and the only one combining voice with montages. Cendrars heard and approved it before his death.
