Having studied the violin as well as composition, Ernest
Bloch had a particular affinity for this instrument –
among his teachers was the legendary violinist/composer
Eugène Ysaÿe. His extensive oeuvre for solo violin
as well as violin and piano grows from those roots
and is presented on this recording in its entirety.
In 1998, Latica Honda-Rosenberg won the silver
medal in the great Tchaikovsky Competition in
Moscow. In addition to her concert activities all over
the world, she has been a professor for violin at the
Academy of Music in Freiburg since 2003. In 2009,
she has accepted a professorship at the University of
the Arts in Berlin.
