      Description hide

Aram is a trio on a quest for moments. Moments of connection, of timeless magic. They search for these moments through their shared love for mystical poetry, emotional melodies and subtle percussion. Connected by a deep musical friendship, they move between Persian Dastgâh and Turkish Makam, two melodic systems that share vocabulary and logic, as dialects of the same language. They improvise, compose new material and reinterpret classical compositions. Thus building a contemporary story on a lineage dating back to the 15th century when composer Abdulkader Meraghi arrived at the Ottoman court and established a strong Persian influence on Ottoman music. It should therefore come as no surprise that Aram composes songs drawing from the rich tradition of Persian Sufi poetry, constantly seeking the perfect combination between the rhythm and timbre of the words, the wondrous beauty of the sounds, the divine warmth and the deeper meaning of the lyrics.
