Sad Daddy emerges straight out of the Ozark hills in 2026 with
their 4th studio album, Ozark Shine, highlighting the band’s
songwriting and harmony vocals. Way Up in the Hills, from 2022,
took the nation by storm with the down-to-earth and raw old-time
country, jug band vibes, and relevant subject matter. With similar
sentiment and back to the country message, Sad Daddy once
again has their fingers on the pulse of America and are ahead of
their time with this new collection of original material. With songs
ranging from stocking up for the next weather disaster, to buying
that little piece of land with a cabin in the peaceful country, to
playful songs of going back home to see if you remembered to
turn off the stove and digging a hole in the backyard to bury a
lame partner– Sad Daddy brings a diverse palette of everything
real and relatable in our day and age.
Recorded at Nashville’s Bomb Shelter Studio with engineer Drew
Carroll and mixed by Andrija Tokic, the band assembled and
recorded live in the same room. They had been working on writing
songs together and getting material ready for the album with
scheduled sessions in central Arkansas and during the week they
spent representing the Ozarks at Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival in
Washington D.C. Brian Martin, Rebecca Patek, Joe Sundell, and
Melissa Carper - all great singers and writers and performers in
their own right - keep Sad Daddy alive for the pure joy of playing
and writing together. You can feel this in the music they create. Get ready for some great new songs, and a few old ones finally put
on wax, that will bring you peace, laughter, and tears of comfort
and joy, Sad Daddy’s Ozark Shine.
