Michalis Kouloumis, himself the child of Cypriot refugees, drew inspiration and emotion for his new album from images of people who were driven from their homes. Displaced Dreams explores our shared humanity in a time of enormous political upheaval and combines music from the East (with instruments such as the oud, ney, lute and baglama) with music from the West (with string ensemble, percussion and double bass). Michalis Kouloumis is a violinist and composer specialising in music from the eastern Mediterranean region and classical Ottoman music.
