Originally released by the Western Jubilee Recording Company in 1997, Don Edwards’ Saddle Songs is a two-volume set of cowboy music. A significant recording, it is currently included in the Folklife Archives of the Library of Congress. The thirty-two selections featured in the collection hail mostly from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and provide special insight to the world of the historic cowboy. Says Edwards, “As a life-long close observer of cowboy life, I can attest to the historical importance of these songs. The cowboy’s life is our heritage, his song is our inheritance, so as you listen to the music, I will tell you his story as best I can.”
