In 2014 the compilation The original rhythm of Gipsy Rhumba in Spain 1965-1974 was released by Soul Jazz Records. The album focused on this musical movement, which combines the Caribbean inspiration and the Rock’n’Roll attitude, created by the Spanish gypsies in the 60’s. The album received great feedback from media and music lovers all around the world. Now, El Noy: La bomba gitana has been released by Barcelona’s Satélite K record label. The album includes the complete recovered recordings of this rumbero, who appeared in the Gipsy Rhumba album. It contains 22 songs in one CD and a double LP (also available in digital formats) with biography in Spanish and unpublished tracks and pictures. Juan Castellón Jiménez “El Noy” (1948-2010) was an unknown rumbero and bohemian artist. Born in Madrid, in one of the most important families of the Flamenco and Rumba movement, he toured around Europe and America with his uncles “Los 4 Vargas”, Dolores Vargas “La Terremoto” (“The Gipsy Earthquake”) and “El Príncipe Gitano” (“The Gipsy Prince”) in the 60’s and 70’s. He was the co-author of the song that The Gispy Kings made a worldwide hit, “Djobi Djoba”, and he shared his music with artists as important as Celia Cruz and Lola Flores. “The most Pop artist of gipsy rumba” had a short career with a few releases, his original 45’s and his only LP are very appreciated and valued by collectors. His songs, full of rhythm and handclapping, approach Boogaloo and Salsa sounds and all of them can be mixed nicely in a club session. The compilers of the album are the rumba specialist David "El Indio” (drummer of the indie rock band Vetusta Morla) and the musical journalist, DJ and writer José Manuel Gómez Gufi.
