Johann Joseph Fux, who was born in Styria, Austria in 1660 and died as the court kapellmeister in Vienna in 1741, is possibly the most significant com-poser of the Austrian late baroque. His oeuvre includes some 20 operas, 14 oratorios, 80 masses and countless works for individual instruments or cham-ber ensembles. This CD presents six members of the Clemencic Consort with a selection of suites and partitas. The first violin is played by Hiro Kurosaki, who has attracted international attention, e.g. through his work with William Christie. In addition to the Clemencic Consort, Kurosaki performs as con-certmaster and soloist with such ensembles as Les Arts Florissants, London Baroque and Cappella Coloniensis. The Clemencic Consort now has over 100 records and CDs to its name, many of which have been honoured with international prizes such as the Edison, Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason d’Or and Prix Cecilia.
