„Aquí y Ahora“ is the first album of Munich Jazz-Saxophone-Player Rafael Alcántara of peruvian extraction and his homage to the three years he lived in Spain. The impressions and moods were catched to be described musically on this CD, that was recorded in Madrid.
His tunes were created out of specific moments: Nieve (Snow) describes the rare moments when it starts to snow in Barcelona. „Nos Vemos“ (We will meet again) tells about the farewell of a love-story. In „No pasa nada“ (It doesn´t matter) you may become an impression of spanish mentality of taking things easier. „Springtime in autumn“ shows the heartbeat of Madrid. Incredible is Rafaels ability of composing and creating well-thought arrangements.
After studying classical saxophone and composition in Munich Rafael (born in 1975) continued his studies with Jazz at the taller de musics in Barcelona. There he came in contact with catalonian language and culture, founded his first Jazzband, played on festivals that were broadcasted in radio and television and was composing for the avantgarde ensemble sax13. In Madrid he played for well-known musicians like Fernando Samalea, Miguel Blanco, Bob Sands and Chris Kase. Bob and Chris are now special guests on his album „Aquí y Ahora“.
His personal connection to Spain is also to be found in his peruvian origins. In his music he tries to create a musical bridge in between Spains and German jazz musicians.
