Tango Crash is the project of the two argentinian musicians Daniel Almada and Martin Iannaccone. Back in 1987 the two musicians were working on a project dealing with electronic music, that focussed on what was understood as Fusion these days. When Daniel moved to Switzerland and internet was the bridge between him and Martin, remaining still in Buenos Aires, they continued their work, but now on the basis of the Tango. Encouraged by noone else then Joe Zawinul, who listened to the first recordings in Martins house after a concert in Buenos Aires, the project took shape when Martin moved to Berlin in 2001.

Their debut-album recorded in Buenos Aires, Basel, Berlin and Hamburg, shows the flexibility of the Tango, to get involved with new influences without loosing its substance. The electrifying framework of Tango Crash is built by Jazz and electronic music, that are present at the beginning of the album in the charismatic track „La Yumba“, that starts with the saxophone and Cello fighting an exciting duel accompanied by piano and electronic beats until the bandoneon puts everything together in a torrent, and defines this way clearly the intention of Tango Crash. The repetition of „La Yumba“ as a Remix is the logical end of 50 minutes of intensive music. Tango Crash does not stop where they might rest on the melancholic effect of the Tango melodies, but focus the musical material from different sides. In the charming „Milonga para Alberto“ the organ accomapnies the passionate cello playing from Martin Iannaccone and the electrifying voice samples. The elegiac compositions „Red Love“ and „Desde Lejos“ are interpreted in a very jazzy and sensitive way. The album comes to its electronic climax in the playful „DJ Peron“, where Daniel Almada and Martin Iannocone together with Lopecito, who was responsable for the voice sample, show all their abilities in mixing.

Tango Crash accompanied the electrification of the Tango from the very beginning and present an intensive debut-album, that deals perfectly between the melancholy of the Tango, the coolness of Jazz and the calculated effects of electronic music.

"...a totally original approach to their native country´s most intriguing and complex music `the Argentine Tango"( Joe Zawinu)
