"Sivert Holmen (1992) is a performing and creative musician specializing in the Hardanger fiddle and the Hardanger d’amore. In his music, folk music from Valdres meets influences from contemporary and modern composition music.

Lydarlæte is a distinctive music tradition from Valdres that is associated with a unique listening context before the advent of concert performances on the Hardanger fiddle. Lydarlæte have been played in Valdres since the beginning of the 19th century – a music tradition that was meant for listening, not dancing – at a time when Hardanger fiddle music was associated with dancing or ceremonial contexts.

The music on sides A and B consists of a number of these lydarlæte – many of them can be traced back to Lars M. Krøsshaug (1785–1830) who stands out as one of the first fiddlers who played lydarlæte.
