      Description hide

The Cuerdas Trio project was born from the meeting of three musicians coming from different backgrounds in terms of age, education, and artistic experience. This encounter goes beyond the purely musical sphere and is rooted in a deep human dimension made of listening, friendship, and mutual respect.

The shared need to make music together gave rise to a collective journey where academic experiences and popular influences merge, particularly those connected to the musical traditions of Spanish-speaking Latin American countries. The result is an original and personal sound, expressed through the combined use of instruments such as the classical guitar, charango, Iranian setar, tiple, and electric guitar.

Gentile is the Trio’s first album and represents the synthesis of the group’s diverse musical souls. The repertoire includes original compositions, reinterpretations of traditional pieces, and arrangements inspired by renowned Latin American composers. Each track emerges as the outcome of a profound dialogue between styles, cultures, and sonorities, in a continuous exploration of timbre and harmony.

The album’s title takes its name from the piece that usually closes the Trio’s concerts — a short lullaby called Gentile. The choice is no coincidence: for Cuerdas Trio, gentleness represents a core value — a gesture of care, attention, and respect for others — which, in a world marked by conflict and division, becomes an act of cultural resistance. A simple yet essential seed for nurturing dialogue, understanding, and beauty.

      BIOGRAPHY

Cuerdas Trio was born from the meeting of three musicians with diverse experiences, united by the shared desire to explore the language of strings through an open and creative approach. Their musical vision naturally crosses boundaries and genres — from folk to classical, from oral tradition to original compositions.

The Trio’s repertoire is the result of an ongoing dialogue between cultures and musical languages, with a particular focus on the traditions of Spanish-speaking Latin American countries. This vision takes shape through a heterogeneous and original instrumentation that combines the classical and electric guitar with the charango, setar, tiple, and other string instruments, in a personal and contemporary timbral exploration.

Founded in January 2024, Cuerdas Trio immediately began an intense concert activity both in Italy and abroad, performing in Germany and France, where they were invited to the international guitar festival Guitares en Cévennes. They have also appeared on major radio programs, including an interview on RAI Radio 3’s show Zazà, on the occasion of the release of their debut album Gentile, published by the label Visage Music.
