After the overwhelming empathy and complicity between multi-award-winning singer LINA_ and Spanish composer/pianist Marco Mezquida on the EP O Fado, released in March this year, “Lisboa dos Manjericos” is the song that signals the duo's return and anticipates the release of O Fado, an album to be released on September 26 by Galileo Music.
“Lisboa dos Manjericos” evokes the festive spirit of “Festas dos Santos Populares” (celebrates the feast days of Saint Peter, Saint John and, most importantly for Lisbon, Saint Anthony - the patron saint of the city) in a reinterpretation of a march recorded in 1969, in Lisbon, by the acclaimed Portuguese fado singer Amália Rodrigues.
About this song, LINA_ says that:
“It is perhaps the march that best describes Lisbon, making reference to maritime discoveries, to the verses of the poet Luís Vaz de Camões, showing the festive spirit of Lisbon and its Popular Saints. Full of tradition, this march breathes musicality and good taste, in a phrasing that transmits immense joy, allowing us to play and at the same time share the state of mind we felt when recording this album!”
