      Anlässlich des zehnten Todestages von Chet Baker im Jahr 1998 entwickelten Enrico Rava und Paolo Fresu, ermutigt und unterstützt vom Veranstalter Mario Guidi, das Projekt einer Chet Baker gewidmeten Konzerttournee, die 1999 Gestalt annahm. Nach dieser sehr erfolgreichen Tournee wurde das Projekt "Shades of Chet" des Quintetts von Enrico Rava und Paolo Fresu mit Stefano Bollani (Klavier), Enzo Pietropaoli (Kontrabass) und Roberto Gatto (Schlagzeug) auf CD veröffentlicht, die von Mario Guidi und Biagio Pagano für das Label Via Veneto Jazz produziert wurde.
