In 1998, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Chet Baker's death, Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu, encouraged and supported by the promoter Mario Guidi, conceived the project (which took shape during 1999) of a concert tour dedicated to Chet Baker.
Following that very successful tour, the project known as "Shades of Chet " by the quintet of Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu, with Stefano Bollani (piano), Enzo Pietropaoli (double bass), Roberto Gatto (drums), produced by Mario Guidi and Biagio Pagano on the Via Veneto Jazz label, was released on CD.
On the occasion of the live re-enactment of that fantastic event, scheduled for June 6 and 7, 2025 at the Casa Del Jazz in Rome, the album is being released in a remastered version, which will allow the listener to live that emotional experience, that expectation that such an event arouses, and which will certainly not be disappointed.
A peculiarity and a clarification: the leaders' tracks are recorded on two different channels (Rava on the left, Fresu on the right); Furthermore, both performed a song by themselves, in a sort of “personal” tribute: Enrico Rava “Retrato em branco e preto” (Antonio Carlos Jobim) and Paolo Fresu “You Can’t Go Home Again” (Don Sebesky).
