      Description hide

Maniatica was without a doubt the most important underground band in the Valencian Country in the 80s and 90s. Formed in Villena (Alicante) in the middle of the decade around two pairs of brothers (the Ruiz brothers –Txispín and Chispes- and the Fernández brothers –Chato and Ama); in 1988 they recorded their first demo and began touring around the State until 1996 when the band dissolved. Now; as the sixth work of the Kasba Music anniversary collection; their most popular recording is released; “El lado oscuro” (The Dark Side); which served to present the last formation of the group; with the Ruiz brothers at the front (Chispes on guitar and Txispín on bass; both on vocals) and the transfer of drumsticks from Chato to Pakote. In 1988 they published “Vitaminas A”; then came “Maniacrítica”; followed by “El lado oscuro” and they finished with “¡Pero que no sea el último paso!” (But let it not be the last step!). In between these four albums there was also a single and the “ghost” work of La Furia (a pirate album where the band covered Clash songs with lyrics in Spanish and which became a “must” in all Spanishspeaking countries).
