Since their reunion in 2018, the South West Oldtime All Stars have established themselves as a permanent fixture on the European traditional/classic jazz scene with well over 200 concerts to their name. Originally from the southwest of Germany, the musicians have studied jazz intensively and love all variations of classical jazz. On their fourth album, the SWOAS pay homage not only to Duke Ellington, one of the most important jazz composers of the 20th century, but also to Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Felix Fromm rearranged Tchaikovsky's world-famous ballet music "Nutcracker Suite" (in Duke Ellington's version) and staged it for the SWOAS.
