      Description hide

A sound map of vegetal species that guides the listener through a mixed forest: contemporary jazz, Galician musical tradition and colorful orchestration.

On September 16th, B O T Á N I C A, Abe Rábade's new album on Karonte Records will be released. 14 original compositions dedicated to the native vegetation of Galicia make up a field of vision open to the world that merges the rural with the urban.

The musical writing and piano of Abe Rábade meet the voice and traditional Galician percussion of one of today's most prestigious figures: Davide Salvado.

Daniel Juárez on tenor sax, Virxilio da Silva on guitar, Ton Risco on vibraphone, Jimena Andión on cello, Pablo Martín Caminero on double bass and Naíma Acuña on drums complete a heterogeneous artistic group, based on the integration of various musical aesthetics and on nonjudgmental exploration.

The album is number 15th in Abe Rábade's discography. B O T Á N I C A will be peformed live on September 24th at the Parque de Bonaval in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain).

Pianist and composer born in Compostela (Galiza, Spain) on September 8, 1977. Abe graduated Cum Laude in Jazz Composition and Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) in 1999.

He is the author of 200 compositions in styles such as jazz, classical, experimental and world music; and a tireless supporter of the dialogue between musical genres and artistic disciplines.

He performs with numerous internationally renowned figures at concerts and festivals around the world. He also offers multiple masterclasses in specialized centers.

He is artistic co-director of the Seminario Permanente de Jazz (Pontevedra), professor at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (ESMAE) in Porto (Portugal) and at the Centro Superior de Música de Galicia (CSM Galicia) in Valga (Pontevedra).
