On September 16th, B O T Á N I C A, Abe Rábade's new album on Karonte Records will
be released. 14 original compositions dedicated to the native vegetation of Galicia
make up a field of vision open to the world that merges the rural with the urban.
The musical writing and piano of Abe Rábade meet the voice and traditional Galician
percussion of one of today's most prestigious figures: Davide Salvado.
Daniel Juárez on tenor sax, Virxilio da Silva on guitar, Ton Risco on vibraphone, Jimena
Andión on cello, Pablo Martín Caminero on double bass and Naíma Acuña on drums
complete a heterogeneous artistic group, based on the integration of various musical
aesthetics and on nonjudgmental exploration.
The album is number 15th in Abe Rábade's discography. B O T Á N I C A will be
peformed live on September 24th at the Parque de Bonaval in Santiago de Compostela
Pianist and composer born in Compostela (Galiza, Spain) on September 8, 1977.
Abe graduated Cum Laude in Jazz Composition and Piano Performance from Berklee
College of Music (Boston, USA) in 1999.
He has fourteen albums as a leader (Sorte, the most recent, was released by Nuba
Records in 2021), he has premiered two symphonic works (Tránsitos in 2015 and
Tempos Velados in 2018), and three other poetic-musical works (Rosalía 21 in 2008,
Travesía dos Poetas in 2010 and Lorca Namorado in 2019).
He is the author of 200 compositions in styles such as jazz, classical, experimental and
world music; and a tireless supporter of the dialogue between musical genres and
He performs with numerous internationally renowned figures at concerts and festivals
around the world. He also offers multiple masterclasses in specialized centers.
He is artistic co-director of the Seminario Permanente de Jazz (Pontevedra), professor
at the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo (ESMAE) in Porto (Portugal)
and at the Centro Superior de Música de Galicia (CSM Galicia) in Valga (Pontevedra).
