RAFFAELE CASARANO and CLAUDIO FARINONE give life to a visionary and evocative tribute to Mercedes Sosa, defined by many as the greatest South American singer of the twentieth century.
Her voice, with its unmistakable timbre and strength, has transformed many songs she has interpreted, giving them an “international” feel, making them known to the whole world.
In this new project, Raffaele Casarano and Claudio Farinone decide to select some of the many songs that “La Negra” - as she was nicknamed - has led to a worldwide success. They deprive them of the contents of the lyrics, bringing them back to the essentiality of music alone, with the smallest possible formation.
The two musicians thus evoke the sounds, without daring to imitate her voice but reinterpreting, upsetting, improvising, rearranging and playing with the dramatic and at the same time playful spirit of the work she interpreted. The rich palette of timbre that the two musicians are able to offer, also through the variety of instruments used, make this project unique, empathetic and involving.
Mercedes Sosa was the voice of mother earth. Water that feeds the songs like trees, that are transformed by the caresses of the sun’s vibration. The enchantment of her art inflamed verses and music of new meanings, crossing borders and offering itself to the whole world.
His singing has always been part of sound imagery and it was the common passion that gave birth to our duo.
The notes of this work dedicated to one of the brightest stars in Latin America is purely instrumental evocation and reinvention. Colors, suggestions, improvisations and arrangements, which we offer as a tribute to one of the greatest popular artists of the twentieth century.
