Saxophonist and composer Joakim Berghäll (best known from Tsuumi Sound System and Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble) leads his all star trio Triality to arctic soundscapes on his masterful concept album.
The free dialogue (or trialogue to be precise) between sax, bass clarinet, guitars, moog and prepared piano at the hands of three masters of their instruments draws intricate soundscapes of the northern wilderness and the rumble of the arctic seas. The exotic instrumentation is special in itself, but the album has already been praised by critics before its official release. There's no rhythm section, so what's left is a free flowing tapestry of intense sounds.
Initially planned as a limited run release, Triality's The Arctic now gets an official release through Eclipse Music (and German partner Galileo Music).
