For 20 years the Serbian double bass player is one of the key figures in Balkan jazz. Critics have called him “Pate of Balkan jazz” or “Key figure in Balkan jazz”. His new album is a live recording from 28th of January 2016 in the Theater Akzent in Vienna. Being his 10th album as a band leader it is also a jubilee album. On “Live in Theater Akzent” he recreates the band sound with renown musicians of the current world-jazz scene: Wolfgang Puschnig plays alto-saxophone and transverse flute, Bojan Z the piano and Jarrod Cagwin drums and percussions. And again, this time he presents the double bass as a fascinating solo- and melody-instrument with far more functionality than being just an accompanying instrument. As a bandleader and composer, he lives again up to his reputation on “Live in Theater Akzent”.
