In Norway they say it’s a new way of playing jazz. In Denmark they call it impro-pop or indie-jazz. This band certainly offers something unique and special, and has serious plans to break through in Scandinavia and Europe.

The Danish-Norwegian band plays jazz with hints of indie and electronica elements delivered with loop pedals. It is pop with an improvisational edge, a playful voice at the center of the soundscape and vocal harmonies in layers. Live Foyn Friis’ compositions are communicated in an innovative way. They started in 2009 as a trio, Foyn Trio!, and released in 2011 their debut album “Joy Visible” in Norway, and it has been internationally critically acclaimed, with dice 5/6 and 8 out of 10 stars, nominated for Danish Music Awards 2012 for Best Danish Vocal Jazz album, and they were recently on release tour in Germany where they played totally sold-out shows. In 2011 they released the single Make Me Smile on a compilation with artists such as Kaizers Orchestra and Datarock. In 2012 they released the single Dementor followed by a big tour of Norway which ended at The DR Concert House in Copenhagen where Live Foyn Friis received the award for Young Jazz Composer of the Year and was called Denmark’s new Jazz Star!

Curling Legs is releasing the first of two albums: “Running Heart” September 1st, 2014.

The sequel: “With Strings”, will be released dureing the winter 2014/2015.

“Running Heart” is recorded in Aarhus with producer Jonas Tranberg. “With Strings” is a live recording with trio and string quartet, recorded at The Music House in Aarhus May 2013, with arrangements written by Live Foyn Friis and Kasper Bai.

Live Foyn Friis and her band has a fast-growing fan group and they have been listed on Norwegian radio, and have already performed in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Brazil and USA. They have received praising reviews in their home countries as well as abroad. Perhaps Jette Lykke was not wrong when she wrote:
