Here are some positive sides to this period. Everything is quieter, the air is cleaner and I can clearly hear the soothing sound of the birds chirping in our garden. Above all I discovered that
I can still create and produce even under these conditions, and here is the first fruit of this
period, “Heal”.
The story of this piece began a little over a year ago when I learned that I had rheumatoid
arthritis. After the initial shock had passed, I started to look for some relief and got interested
in the stories of people who were able to cure themselves from chronic illnesses. I met with
drummer Doron Rafaeli who shared with me the story of how he cured himself of cancer and
I watched the Netflix documentary “Heal” that deals exactly with this issue. Afterwards, I wrote
this music.
I believe that it is most appropriate during the challenging period that we are experiencing now
to publish this work that tries to describe in sound the story of illness and healing.
I am grateful to my friends from Germany, pianist Eyal Lovett and Contrabassist Stefan
Engelman, who willingly contributed their beautiful playing and to dancer\choreographer
Berrak Yedek who listened to this music and oered her wonderful dance to his sounds.
Due to the time constraints, each of the participants had to record and photograph himself
from his own home. Then all the audio and video recordings were sent to me in for editing
Istanbul.
It's not easy to create and produce nowadays. The body and mind sometimes refuse to
cooperate and often the art seems insignificant, but of course that is nothing but an illusion and
not the way things really are. Artist creativity is an essential part of my life and that which gives
great meaning to it.
I hope the music moves you and provides you with relief during this challenging time.
