The poetry of Edith Södergran and Karin Boye are given new musical forms as the lead singer from Elifantree, Anni Elif, releases her debut solo effort of new etherial songs. The album also celebrates the 125th anniversary of Södergran's birth. Finnish poet Edith Södergran (1892-1923) was probably Finland's best known modernist poet during her short lifetime. Writing is the swedish language her poetry remains very popular both in Scandinavia as well as globally. Combining Södergran's poetry with the works of Gothenburgian poet Karin Boye vocalist Anni Elif gives a fresh new glimpse into the world of the two master poets. ”On foot I had to walk through the solar systems, before I found the first thread of my red dress” writes Edith Södergran in her collection of poems, The Rose Altar from 1919. Vocalist, cellist and composer Anni Elif Egecioglu (born 1986) has gone through many musical phases with her unique voice. She is originally from Gothenburg with roots from Sweden and Turkey and has lived the last decade in Helsinki, Finland. After releasing many albums with various groups she now releases the first album in her own name.
