"I hear a lot of albums...this one is special. Not easy to be both unique and accessible these days,
you've done it." Greg Calbi, Senior Mastering Engineer, Sterling Sound New York
On Demimonde, Ingrid Lukas explores her own musical and personal development. With her, the two
are inseparable – and reflected in her lyrics as well. After We Need to Repeat and Silver Secrets,
Ingrid and her group have recorded an album that reconciles the different elements of her
personality.
Urban beats unite with mystical and calm sounds, hymnal strings with grungy bass lines and the
Estonian Regilaul tradition with modern song forms.
Ingrid creates musical mantras and sings them to keep herself on her own chosen path. By doing
this she gives us songs and moods that shed a very personal light on issues that we can all identify
with. Her music takes us on a journey into the demimonde of spirits and demons, we are driven by a
mangy urban beat and finally swim in musical water, which flows from a healing spring.
On her musical travels Ingrid is accompanied by her colleague of many years, drummer and
electronics wizard Patrik Zosso, who also produced the album together with Nik Bärtsch. Michel
Gsell plays bass and violin, in the live line-up to be replaced by Manu Rindlisbacher. Céline-Giulia
Voser plays cello and sings backing vocals.
Despite the sophisticated production, Demimonde was created by a staunchly committed working
band that has been collaborating already for a long time and developed their musical style together.
