DIANA TARÍN VOCALIST, PERCUSSIONIST AND KEYBOARDIST

Afro-Cuban, singer and pianist, Diana sums up in her own person the richness of the musical culture of her native Cuba. Daughter and granddaughter of renowned musicians on her island, at the age of 17 she was already a member of different female groups that travelled to different countries, mainly in Europe, as a vocalist, pianist, and percussionist.

She arrived in Spain as a member of a traditional music group and has settled among us. She graduated as a pianist in Vigo, and has also collaborated in different musical recordings, several of them of international scope, being currently a music teacher at the Rock School Music CDM in Ponteareas.

Her musicians describe her as creative and tireless, and she can be found with her band at charity events, auditoriums, jazz festivals, concert halls, important social activities and renowned nightclubs and entertainment centres. Versatile artist, her musical universe is large and works well with the familiarity of Cuban tradition, jazz, bossa nova, funk, soul, bolero, and song.

      CORRIENTE DEL GOLFO

The musical project Corriente del Golfo, led by Galician pianist and composer Alberto Conde and Cuban singer Diana Tarín, offers a sonic journey through multiple territories, fusing Latin jazz with influences from Spanish, Galician and Cuban culture. The musical project - released as a double CD - celebrates the cultural and musical ties between the Iberian Peninsula, Galicia, New York and Cuba.

Corriente del Golfo's repertoire includes both original compositions and reinterpretations of traditional songs from both sides of the Atlantic. Homage is paid to key figures such as Manuel de Falla and Lorca, including one of the Spanish poet's "Seis poemas Galegos". There are also outstanding compositions based on poems by María Muñoz Portal, a leading figure in contemporary Cuban music, as well as works inspired by Dulce María Loynaz, Curros Enriquez and José Castro "Chané".

The project features Galician, Cuban and Portuguese musicians, including Nani García, Roberto Somoza, Javier Cedrón, Clara Groba, Carlos Castro, Yissy García, Sergio Delgado, Ana Ferreira and José Valente. In addition, the Orquesta de Cámara 430 de Vigo and the Rías Baixas Choir will also perform.

The album is distinctive for the fusion of styles and the creativity of the musical arrangements. Cuban themes by outstanding artists such as Chico O'Farrill, Chucho Valdés, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Los Van Van are reworked.

A CD and a musical project that has the makings to become one of the most important in the history of Galician music and Hispanic-Cuban fusion in the jazz genre.
