      The new spirit of India

Back in the 70ies it was the Mahavishnu Orchestra, now it is Taalis bringing musical colors to your life! The band of drummer Taalis is much more than just a band – it is a spirit.

It is a journey into Indian classical music as well as Fusion, Rock, Pop and European influenced Jazz. It is the adventurous meeting of several music traditions based on intuition and improvisation.

It is the meeting of musicians of India, Europe and USA to find one common musical language. And it is leading towards one thing: Shaking your body and soul. Taalis drums, percussion, recitation composer, arranger

Taalis is drummer and composer. He devoted his studies to European jazz and the classical music of India. Master student of both, world famous jazz drummer Trilok Gurtu and Maestro Pt. Suresh Talwalkar, who is one of the last and leading music and tabla gurus of India, he made a profound contribution to integrating the drum set of the Western World into Indian classical music.

      Taalis THE BAND

Founded by drummer Taalis the band´s line up is quite unique featuring Shakir Khan on Sitar. Shakir Khan belongs to the most prominent family of sitarplayers in India. He is the son of the famous Ustad Shahid Parvez - one of the leading sitarmasters of India today - and is the 8th generation of sitarplayers in his family. Studying under his fathers guidance since he was four years old he has already achieved an extraordinary mastery on Indian classical music. Two other "big names" are band members of Taalis: Saxophon Player George Brooks, a long time indian music´s aficianado, and bass legend Kai Eckhardt, the bass player of the world famous John Mc Laughlin Trio. But the band presents also two young, upcoming cats: Martin Berauer on bass, and Chris Gall on piano.
