      Description hide

Dr. Nizar Radwan is a Violin and Oud player, mostly known for being the conductor and main soloist of the Nazareth Orchestra. Both albums by this orchestra were released on Magda (Tribute to Oum Kolthoum - MGD042 & Habaytak MGD041) and now Radwan makes his own debut release.

He was born and raised in his family house in Haifa (the biggest port city, in North Israel). The landscape of Haifa´s Bay area and Bahá´í Gardens, as well as the traditions and his memories from home, inspired his compositions and selection of other classic tunes for this album. Rawan´s original music reflects an affinity to Mathematics since Radwan also serves as Dr.of Mathematics at the Technical College in Haifa.

The album includes his arrangements for classical and ancient pieces originating from Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt. The sensitive listener will notice a very delicate touch of Jewish and Klezmer music in some of the pieces. Closing the album is a wonderful medley of two love songs by the Rahabani brothers and a song by Sohil Radwan, composed 60 years ago. This song is one of the most loved by Arabs in the Galilee Mountains.

      The musicians:
Nizar Radwan - Oud and Violin
Michael Sajrawi - Guitar and Bass
      Hagit Rosemarine - Flute
      Ramzi Besharat - Oriental Percussions
Nabegh Abu Nicholas - Bongos and ocean drum
